Volunteer Application

Suncoast Humane Society encourages the participation of volunteers who support our mission “to reduce the number of homeless animals and improve the quality of life.” Suncoast Humane Society operates an “open admissions” animal care center (shelter) and promotes compassionate, humane care and treatment for all animals. We provide community outreach, humane education, and many programs designed to help both people and animals.

If you agree with our mission and wish to apply for a volunteer position, please complete the Volunteer Application below. The information on this form will help us to determine the appropriate volunteer position. After your submission our Volunteer Services Manager, Jacqueline Elliott, will be in touch to schedule your volunteer orientation.

Agreement

As a volunteer for the Suncoast Humane Society (SHS), I agree to abide by the Society’s policies and procedures. I understand I will be volunteering at my own risk. SHS, its employees or affiliates, do not assume any responsibility or liability for any accident, injury, or health problems which may arise from any volunteer work I perform. As an SHS volunteer, I agree that all work I perform is on a voluntary basis and I am not eligible to receive any monetary payment or rewards. I agree that I am not volunteering as part of any court-appointed or teen court-appointed community service program. I fully understand and agree with the terms of this agreement.

By signing this agreement, you are also agreeing to an interview, orientation (if accepted), and appropriate training for the volunteer position.

Waiver Statemnt

As a volunteer for the Suncoast Humane Society, I agree to abide by the Society’s policies and procedures. I understand that all volunteers working for the shelter do so at their own risk and that the Society, its employees, or affiliates cannot assume any responsibility for liability for any accident, injury or health problems that may arise from any volunteer work I perform for the Society. As a Suncoast Humane Society volunteer, I agree that all work I do is on a voluntary basis and I am not eligible to receive any monetary payments or rewards. I am also aware that I may be terminated from this position if in violation of any of the policies or procedures of the Suncoast Humane Society.

Volunteer Tetanus Waiver

Suncoast Humane Society feels that it is important for all volunteers to be current on their tetanus vaccinations if they will be handling animals as a Suncoast Humane Society volunteer.

If a volunteer has a question about the tetanus vaccination heor she is encouraged to consult a physician, at the volunteer’s own expense, to decide whether or not to be vaccinated against tetanus.

I have read, understand and agree to the above. Furthermore, I release Suncoast Humane Society from all responsibility that may occur because of my not being vaccinated against Tetanus and I understand that whatever decision I make regarding a Tetanus vaccination, is at my own risk.
