Your gift will be applied to our special medical fund and put toward the cost of the treatment and care of selected pets that come to us in need of help.
Gifts of $100 or more may be applied to the Shelter Angel Medical Fund.

Mimi came into Suncoast Humane Society with an extended abdomen. She got a costly treatment that saved her life. She is still at the Adoption Center waiting to meet her forever home. She is available to be adopted for the low cost of $25 due to her being at Suncoast Humane Society for over six months. Please stop by to visit her, maybe she will be your forever furry friend.
Carl is a dog that was left in the Panhandle after a recent hurricane. When Carl was tested for heartworm the results were positive. He was treated for the disease at Suncoast Humane Society. He is now with a loving family and will live for a long time.
Axl is a kitten that came to Suncoast Humane Society with some hip problems. She had to go through a costly hip surgery to try to help her with the pain. She is now adopted to a loving home with no pain.
Lexie is a beautiful long coated Chihuahua that came in with an extremely infected ears and painful dental disease. Suncoast Humane Society did dental surgery to extract the infected teeth and medication for the infected ears. Now Lexie is out in her new home healthy.
Max’s owners moved and could not take him with them. He has been a good family dog living with young children. He walks well on leash, likes to go for car rides, he likes attention and being around people, he is very easy going. Max likes to play fetch but he doesn't like people messing with his teeth/mouth. When Max came to Suncoast Humane Society, his treatment for dental disease cost over $300, thanks to the Shelter Angel Program. He is now having the best life ever in his new forever home.
Minnie is a small girl weighing in at 11lbs. She gets along with kids, dogs, but not other cats. She is frightful of new situations and people, so she will need someone who understands that and takes their time with her. Minnie tested positive for Heartworm when she came to Suncoast Humane Society. Her treatment costing over $150 helped her get a second chance at life with her new forever family, all made possible by the Shelter Angel Program.
Roxy is an adorable, sweet, 8.5 year old gal came to us with dental disease. In her previous home, Roxy was the queen of the household where she was the center of her owner’s attention. Our Shelter Angel Program helped to treat Roxy’s dental issue by having 4 teeth extracted costing over $230. Since her recovery, Roxy has been happily adopted.
Milo had a rough start. When he and his litter mates were 3 weeks old their mother passed away unexpectedly, so they went in to foster care and were bottle fed. They didn't get hands on training or socializing as they got older, and soon after that they were put in to a shelter. Our Shelter Angel Program allowed us to treat Milo for dental disease relieving a lot of discomfort so he could focus on re-building social skills and trust. He is now living happily with his new forever family.
Roxy came to Suncoast Humane Society with kennel cough when her owner went into a health facility. Roxy was very dedicated to her previous owner. She helped her human companion deal with seizures and was in a way a therapy dog. The Shelter Angel Program paid for Roxy’s kennel cough treatments costing over $200 and allowed her to live happily ever after with her furr-ever family.
Asia came to Suncoast Humane Society after her owner was hospitalized and no one else was able to take care of her. This 10 year old Shi Tzu was in a lot of discomfort due to dental disease. Our Shelter Angel Program paid for her treatment costing over $230 so that she can continue to give kisses to her new owner after she was adopted.
The James W. Wherritt Charitable Fund at the Community Foundation of Sarasota County provides much needed funding for our Shelter Angel Medical Fund which helps with costly medical treatment for animals in need of special care prior to being placed for adoption.
