United Way of Charlotte County Partners with Suncoast Humane Society for Annual Day of Caring Event on October 22
United Way of Charlotte County (UWCC) traditionally hosts their annual Day of Caring event focusing on completing projects for various local nonprofit organizations. This year, however, the event is different: on October 22, 2020, UWCC will be hosting a Campaign Kickoff Celebration in the Port Charlotte Town Center parking lot, near the Sears Auto Center, from 9am-11am. This rally will focus on replenishing tangible needs for over 15 organizations in the area, including Suncoast Humane Society.
UWCC put together a list on their website (www.unitedwayccfl.org) of items needed by each organization. To help Suncoast Humane Society, you can select items from the list and collect as many of them as you can.
You can participate as an individual, group, family or business. You will be able to drop off these donations at the Campaign Kickoff Celebration utilizing a contactless drive-through method. The items that Suncoast Humane Society will be accepting at the event include:
Supplies for animals: Kongs (all sizes), peanut butter (Jif preferred), Nylabones, feeding puzzles, leashes (non-retractable); harnesses, (dogs, all sizes); collars (cats, breakaway style only).
Cleaning supplies: bleach, paper towels, wipes, laundry detergent, hand sanitizer, kitchen trash bags, and large trash bags.
Suncoast Humane Society’s CEO, Maureen O’Nell, shared: “Our dogs and cats don’t know what Day of Caring is, but we certainly do, and we appreciate every donation given with the intention of helping these helpless animals.”
“During COVID-19, not only is there stress on families making difficult decisions, but many times our most loyal companion suffers in these decisions as well” said United Way of Charlotte County’s Executive Director, Angie Matthiessen. “We’re happy to partner with Suncoast Humane Society to lessen the burden on our local residents to help them keep their pets with them at home.”
