Have a Heart – A Heartworm Treatment Campaign
We are excited to announce the start of our annual heartworm treatment campaign – Have a Heart. All dogs that come into our care are tested for heartworm disease. If they test positive, our Preventive Health Care Clinic steps in to help. We believe that heartworm disease is a terrible thing to stand in the way of a pet having the possibility of a second chance at life, and a forever family and home.
The cost of treatment for each dog can be $250-$500, which is one of the reasons many shelters don’t offer treatment for this fatal disease. Suncoast Humane Society is one of Florida’s few open admissions animal shelters, which means we accept all animals brought to us regardless of health, temperament, age, size or breed. The support of our wonderful community through the Have a Heart campaign will allow us to continue our commitment to our admission policy, and to be able to step in to help many pets in need.
Our goal this year is to raise enough funds to help at least 5 dogs receive heartworm treatment. This means we need to raise at least $1,250! Right now through February 29, 2020 you can make a donation toward our goal to help us save their hearts.
There are 3 ways you can help right now:
1) Donate on our Facebook fundraiser page
2) Donate at our Animal Care Center at 6781 San Casa Drive, Englewood FL 34224
3) Donate at one of our 3 Thrift Stores: Englewood – 1951 S. McCall Rd., Port Charlotte – 1825 Tamiami Trl., Venice – 656 Tamiami Trl.
Thank you for your and support!
