So Many Volunteer Opportunities!
Below are the many ways you can help the animals by volunteering your time. Not all opportunities may be currently available. Greet the public, escorting them throughout the adoption areas. Assist customer service by answering questions and meeting the needs of our visitors.
Helps to socialize felines in our cattery. Provides love, attention, petting and basic grooming while they await their permanent home.
Provide socialization for adoptable canines awaiting adoption. Walks, leash trains, exercises and gives very basic obedience training, preparing them to become loving companions in their forever home.
Wash, dry and fold towels and blankets donated by the public for the animals’ comfort. Operate a commercial washer and dryer.
Provide temporary homes for special needs animals. This includes those too young for adoption, slightly ill, or in need of proper socializing, before being placed for adoption at the animal care center.
Help transport adoptable animals to and from Suncoast Humane Society as part of our cooperative program with other shelters, to find more animals quality homes. Other transporting opportunity is to deliver and pick up donated pet supplies from our local partners (example: pet supply stores when they host donation drives), and/or fundraising/marketing materials (example: flyers, donated items for fundraising events.)
Help to further the mission of Suncoast Humane Society by generating revenue at our thrift stores. Accept quality items for sale, sort, assist with displaying the merchandise, and/or be a salesperson. All proceeds serve to help the services, programs and animals.
Assist with fundraising projects and events. This may include helping to solicit sponsorships, donations, and door prizes. Assist at the fundraising events with set up, staffing and break down. Become a Critter Bank Collector, collecting proceeds from outside bank hosts.
Outreach and Education
Assist with educational exhibits at community expos or other type events, promoting the programs of the Society.
Teams of qualified canines and their owners provide compassionate interaction with residents of hospitals, health care facilities, schools, libraries and special need requests. Qualifying requires extensive training and evaluation.
Satellite Cat Caretaker
Work directly with the Satellite Adoption Manager to assist with the care of adoptable animals at our satellite adoption centers. This may include feeding and giving water to the cats, cleaning habitats, and socialization. Adoption responsibilities require additional training and approval of Satellite Adoption Manager and Director of Operations.
