Who We Are

humane.org has been a vision for the board and staff of Suncoast Humane Society for some time now. The highly visible domain name "humane.org" led us to envision the concept of an online platform enabling Suncoast Humane Society and its partners to attract, reach and inform potentially global audiences of the significances regarding the holistic notion of Humane.

Concept

Suncoast Humane Society is fortunate to have secured the "humane.org" domain name. Currently the domain is linked to the SHS website, from which it has been determined that "humane.org" is receiving over 30,000 unique hits on average, per month. This internet traffic offers a profoundly significant opportunity to spread our mission in a globally practiced and accepted format, that is, the world-wide-web.

Mission

To further humane attitudes and practices in every aspect of our daily lives.

Vision

humane.org will be an online platform enabling Suncoast Humane Society and its partners to attract, reach and inform potentially global audiences of the significances regarding the holistic notion of Humane.

Diane O'Driscoll - Director of Development

Founded in 1971 as the Animal Aid Society of Englewood, Florida, Suncoast Humane Society began with a few cages where people left stray animals to be cared for. Over the years, our service area has grown to include over 400 square miles, covering three counties: Sarasota, Charlotte, portions of Lee.

Suncoast Humane Society provides a safe refuge for thousands of lost, abandoned, and abused animals from our service area each year. We are committed to our open-door policy of never turning any animal away, regardless of health, temperament, breed, or circumstances.
